🚨 SMALL MISTAKE. BIG TROUBLE.
One extra zero. One wrong click. One missed detail.

One extra zero. One wrong click. One missed detail.
Sometimes, a major security or financial incident can begin with something as simple as human error.
And that's why verification matters.
🔍 BEFORE YOU APPROVE A PAYMENT — CHECK THESE 10 THINGS:
1️⃣ Check the invoice amount
Does the amount you're entering exactly match the approved invoice?
2️⃣ Check the currency
USD, EUR, GBP, LKR — make sure you're paying in the correct currency.
3️⃣ Check the beneficiary name
Does the account belong to the correct client or supplier?
4️⃣ Check the bank account number
Don't rely only on a previously saved account. Verify it against the approved
documentation.
5️⃣ Check for recent changes
Has the supplier suddenly provided a new bank account or payment instruction?
6️⃣ Check the supporting documents
Is there a valid purchase order, invoice, contract, or approval supporting the payment?
7️⃣ Check the payment purpose
Does the payment make sense based on the actual business transaction?
8️⃣ Check unusual urgency
Someone saying “URGENT — PAY NOW!” should be a reason to verify, not a reason to rush.
9️⃣ Verify unusual requests independently
If payment instructions have changed, contact the supplier using a known, trusted contact number — not the number provided in a suspicious email or message.
🔟 Check before the final click
Take a moment to review the amount, account, beneficiary and supporting documents before selecting “Approve” or “Send.”
🛡️ Remember:
- You don't need to be a cybersecurity expert to prevent many incidents.
- Sometimes, being careful with one number, one account number, or one email is enough to prevent a major loss.
- Cybersecurity is not only the responsibility of the IT team.
- Finance teams, HR teams, managers, assistants — EVERYONE plays a role.
💡 Because a hacker doesn't always need to break into your system.
Sometimes, all they need is for someone to make one small mistake.
🔐 STOP. VERIFY. THEN APPROVE.
